There are thousands of bass fishing lures available to anglers today and it’s extremely difficult to say which of these choices is “the best”, but in this article I’m going to attempt to do just that. Actually are the 3 bass fishing lures listed in this article the flat out best without question? Of course not, it would be impossible to determine “the best” bass lure without question.
These bass fishing lures have been effective for me over the last twenty plus years of bass fishing, thus they are the 3 best bass fishing lures for me. If these bass lures have been effective for me, they will also be effective for you. The bottom line is that if any of these lures aren’t in your tackle box or bag they need to be added sooner rather than later.
These lures are being listed in no particular order. Let’s get down to business, shall we?
- Soft Plastics – Although soft plastics aren’t a “lure” per say, I felt they needed to be listed among the best bass lures simply because I’ve had so much success with them. Soft plastics, from plastic worms and grubs to soft plastic crawdads are extremely effective bass fishing lures. The world of soft plastics has come a long way with the invention of biodegradable materials that are infused with bass attracting scents. Soft plastics that are manufactured with these materials are extremely effective bass fishing lures.
- The KickTail Minnow – The KickTail Minnow is a lipless crank bait that is as realistic a fishing lure as you will ever see. When it comes to bass fishing lures the KickTail Minnow is one of the best. This bait imitates a live bait fish to an amazing degree. This bait looks very much like a live shad.
- The Jitterbug – Most bass anglers are well aware of how effective fishing with top water baits can be, and the Jitterbug is one of the most effective top water baits of all time. The Jitterbug’s slow wobble when retrieved, along with the “gurgling” sound it produces is hard for a hungry bass to resist. The Jitterbug is easily one of the 3 best bass fishing lures of all time. This lure can be extremely effective when fished over weed beds in the early mornings and late evenings.
There are certainly other lures that could be added to this list, but these 3 lures are among the most effective bass fishing lures of all time. As I said if any of them aren’t a part of your bass fishing repertoire, they should be added sooner, rather than later. And remember there is nothing that will improve your catch rates like becoming a better angler, so spend as much time on the water as you can.
