Trying to finish up my 11.5” build and I’m in between the two rails. Anyone have experience with either or both and care to share your preferences?

I think the BCM looks better, that’s what matters.

To answer your question. Both rails are excellent.

The bravo company rail clamping at the top instead of the bottom is theoretically more secure. If you take the rail off regularly with rails that clamp at the bottom, the upper rail can spread open slightly over repeated install / removals. This is a problem basically nobody ever has.

So while yes, the BCM is a “better” system, it’s only marginally so, and in extremely limited circumstance. In either case, you’re getting an excellent rail system from a great manufacturer.

What profile barrel are you getting? And are you throwing on an adjustable gas block? If so, which one? That’ll dictate which handguard will even fit.

I can only speak for the MI as I haven’t used the BCM, but was in the same spot when building my 11.5 upper. Went with the MI combat since I used the previous generation lightweight rail on my 14.5 build and was pleased. Build, fit, weight, finish are all exactly what I had hoped for, and I’m very happy with it. That being said, I’m sure the BCM would be very much the same story, and neither would be a bad choice.

Slimmer hand guards like you’re looking at feel perfect in the hand to me, but keep in mind that if you’re doing mag dumps (or say, have an echo trigger) that they will get very hot pretty quickly. As far as fitment, 11.3 should be perfect. I have a DD 11.5 on my build and it leaves just a little hanging out between the hand guard and the crush washer. I’ll see if I can’t find a pic.

One last thing to note is when installing it, I would get the two screws that clamp it on good and snug with the supplied allen key and leave it at that. I tried to torque them to recommended spec and it pulled the threads straight out, and I had to buy another one. YMMV.

BCM MCMR, I have the 10” on my 11.5” barrel and truthfully the rail is 10.3-10.5”. Perfect fit in my opinion.

Got the BCM MCMR for my first build and I’m really impressed with the quality.

BCM is the best M. Really though, both are nice, but BCM’s mounting system is superior in a few ways.
