.308 and 7mm-08 would be very good for this list as well.

I live in Alaska and trust me you don’t need a very powerful gun to take down bears like a 243 can take down a small black bear and a 30-6 is what I use for moose

    Just something special about a 30 cal bullet. I take a 308 over a 270 anyday.

If you can push a good 180+ grain bullet 2700+ fps, accurately, you can hunt anything on the North American continent.

3006 and 270win are fine cartridges. I like 6.5 PRC better. The much under rated 280 rem will beat the 270 or 3006 at any range. The hornady precision hunter ammo in 280 or 280 ackley are outstanding.

As a 25-06 guy my caliber gets little love. It’s been more apparent at southern and western Walmart’s and most gun shops but the north east is all 243, 270, 30-06, 308 and of course the 30-30 which I never was a fan of. Non mags of course. Mags I would say the 7mm and 300 are most common. The short mags died like a match at least up here in the NE

About as good a list any other I have seen. Their good choices for good reasons. Every one including myself have my own favorites.

    Anything 6.5 mm
308, and 300 win. I also really like the .243. But honestly, the 6.5’s cover it and the 308 really well.

When I get up to it (I'm just getting in to hunting on a serious level) I'm going to get a .280 Remington. It's a 7mm in a 30-06 casing. What's not to like? You get all the versatility of the 06, with nearly the same bullet selection, and much better ballistics. What's not to like?

300 win mag all day long because it’s extremely flat shooting and has more that enough knock down at longer ranges.it always better to be over gunned than under gunned .

300 win mag ,300 wsm ,300 weatherby are the most versatile you can hunt anything all the way up to dangerous game in Africa down to white tails and not have a problem

270 is the only rifle i use. The rifle is pure power with awsome knock down power. Nothing can beat it, mark it.

Asa collector I’ve got a .30/30, 30.06, .308 and of course the basic AR rounds of 5.56 and .300 blackout.
I just need time and friends to hunt with.

308 7.62×51 more ready available than any of those rounds mentioned globally and you can find surplus ammunition on the market.

Hand loading for the last dozen years has taught me a lot about all these different rounds.

I like 243 and 270 instead of 308 and 30-06. Why? A 243 is a necked down 308 and a 270 is a necked down 30-06. Necked down means same power with a narrower bullet. They shoot faster and are less effected by drop and windage. I shoot all my rounds at 3200 fps which is ideal for Barnes tsx copper bullets to get full expansion. At that speed you can kill anything. You don’t need more mass … you need more wound cavity. I also shoot 300 WSM at 3200 fps. When I shoot my gun, regardless of caliber, the drop is the same at every distance out to 300 yards. And from zero to 300 yards the bullet’s trajectory is never more than 3 inches from zero. So from my smallest hunting rifle to my biggest I never have to check ballistics or adjust as long as it’s within 300 yards.

This wouldn’t be possible in 30-06 or 308 because there isn’t enough room to put in the powder that would be required to accelerate a bullet that fast. And if you could put that much powder in it would exceed the max pressure of the chamber.
