Interesting new paper documenting pretty high mortality rates for C&R bull trout: [link.](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0165783619303133)

This is why I fish barbless…I can usually use forceps to remove the hook easily and release the fish without ever touching it or taking it out of the water. Granted I usually take a few pics of a nice fish and I have no way of knowing if the survive or not. Glad folks are studying this though, data is clutch. In the mean time, practice keep em wet, don’t overplay the fish, and stay off the redds.

112 seconds to get a picture of a fish? What the *fuck?*

Time to start revoking fishing licenses for these people.

They can if you hit them with the phone hard enough.

That’s like saying cars kill people. Blaming the device for for the actions of the operator.

If you must get a picture of every fish, keep your phone handy in your wader’s chest pocket and keep the fish swimming in the net. It’s common sense stuff.
