So I’m heading down to visit family in Vero Beach in early April. We rented a house on the Indian River between Sebastian and Wabasso. I will be bringing a rod and reel but I don’t really fish in saltwater. There are four peirs that I will have access to. Any suggestions on what baits I might want to bring with me would help. I’m from the Chicago area so mostly I fish for bass. Thanks in advance.

    Buy live shrimp 🦐

I lived in and fished Florida for years

The local bait shops should have them in stock. Just want to hook them right behind their brain.

Live shrimp, you can use (whole or pieces) of that to catch smaller bait fish like pin fish, and use those for bait too. Might find some sheepshead around the piers, they’ll eat shrimp or small crabs.

Stick marsh is in the Vero area. I don’t know the shore fishing opportunities, but it is a famous bass fishing spot.
