Where do I fish? I have a small lake nearby, but would like to explore some nearby larger lakes. How do I know good places that I can put in, etc..? I see boat ramps on the maps I’m looking at, but does that mean anyone can use them?

You can put in anywhere you want to drag the yak into the water. Boat ramps are a good place

Seriously, search the internet for put-ins and also local clubs. If there are kayak tour or rental places near by ask them. Also, if you are using actual maps, look into charts like from NOAA.

Go to takemefishing.org and it should give you a list of places to fish in your state

If you have a busy lake, I would offer this advice. Find the lily pads and blast into them, past where the bass boats can go. My best fishing comes between the edge of the pads and the actual shore.
