Yep, planted a Clouser right between my shoulder blades. I learned why it’s called chuck and duck.

Natural selection against the tailing loop. I lost track of my sticks but one was barbed in my buttock when I was alone in the boat. Old Korean guy shore fishing waved me in and popped it out w the loop of line trick. Taught me and fixed it, all w no English.

Wait til you get your (former) buddy’s triple treble hook large salt lure to the calf and the folks on the boat think it’s funny. There is a reason I don’t use treble hooks anymore.

Sacrifice a fly and rip off the hook part when learning to cast.

Don’t learn to cast with a hook. Tie some yarn on.

I took one to the cheek while fishing in Alaska, they have clinics up there that only remove hooks.

Friend did this with a spinning musky lure, right through the ear lobe like an earring, but I have hit myself with flies too many times in the head

I got myself right in the shoulder blades this summer with a decent sized streamer.

Hood, hat, and eye protection. As meatloaf once said, two out of three ain’t bad.

But seriously, I hope you pinched the barb. And what’s with that ridiculously long tag?

My younger sister hooked my grandfather through his cheek when she was like 8. It was on a spinner tho. But you should definitely wear a windbreaker or something to cover your neck along with eye protection when you’re learning to cast
