So I’m looking into getting some higher-quality hearing protection. Currently I’m just using earplugs, but I want to take my hearing protection more seriously. I’ve been thinking about getting electronic muffs, to use as my primary hearing protection, and double-up with earplugs if/when needed. I’m fairly young and my hearing is still good, so I want to preserve it as much as possible.
My question to you guys is what are some of the higher quality muffs I could/should get. I’m hearing a lot of good things about the Peltor Comtac 3’s, with the consensus being their a gold standard for higher-end muffs. I wont be 0peRaTIng with any communication/radio channels, but I do want a part of muffs that are quality, where I can buy once, cry once. I’m willing to shell out the $500 for the comtac 3’s, since people are reporting its great hearing protection, has good microphones to be aware of your surroundings, high durability, and the ability to take communication/radio channels.
