So I obtained a topper m48 harrington & Richardson arms Co Worcester mass made in the usa single shot 20 gauge . And I can’t seem to find the serial number . There is a R printed under the name . And 885 is on the left side of the barrel inside the breach. It may have been made without a serial number . But if anyone can shed any light on this please do

If an R means it was made in ’55 then it has no serial number most likely.

Guns were’t required to have them until ’68 so a lot of low-end shotguns made prior to ’68 didn’t have them.

Looks like the R means it was made 1955.
