I shot a nice 8 around 10am. I waited about 25-30 min and then checked the arrow. I forgot to take a picture but there’s a little bit of blood on it but it smells so I’m guessing I gut shot him. I was on the ground and he was broadside so there was no angle at all. I only followed where he ran about 10-15 yards and decided to back out. There was a few little spots of blood but that’s it. When should I go back to look for him?

    Twenty four hours.

Call off work if you have to, this is your responsibility at this point.

We went back in right before dark to give us a little bit of time to find blood with some light. After following small drops of blood every 20-30 yards for an hour we ended up finding him sitting against a blowdown. We watched for a minute to see if he was breathing before waking up to him. Didn’t look like he was breathing so we walked over, he jumped up and ran. We waited a little while before going after him again. After that we were unable to find him again. He ran towards a really thick swampy area and I’m sure he’s in there. My dad and a friend are going back today while I’m at work to see if they can find him. Thanks to everyone who has given any advice to help, really appreciate it!

I’d wait until tomorrow morning if temps allow it

i hunt off the ground too and good broadside shots dont drop much blood because of the horizontal hole. If you found ANY blood you’re probably good, he’ll die. Give him 2 hours.
