Looking around for a .22 pistol, its only purpose will be plinking outdoors and some range use. Purely a “for fun”, cheap to shoot, gun. Anyone wanna toss some ideas at me or own something yourself and really like it? I’m not married to any specific brands or styles. I kinda like the look of the [https://www.ruger.com/products/markIV2245Lite/models.html](https://www.ruger.com/products/markIV2245Lite/models.html) but again, totally open to pretty much anything.

100% go with the Ruger Mark IV or even go with a Mark II, little older and cheaper on the used market, but if it’s just for plinking have fun!

Oh wow, simplified takedown – yeah I’d go with that. I have a Mark III (I think) and I’ve never managed to strip it. I just spray some CLP in the chamber / down the barrel occassionally and it keeps on working.

The Ruger series of .22 target pistols are basically the gold standard. Can’t go wrong with one of these.

The .22 AR’s look very plinkable. And you can get one under 300

Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory should be on your list. Great shooter out of the box. The thing just runs and it’s more accurate than I am.

I got a cheap used GSG 1911 for my daughter to practice with. It’s been great for teaching her to clear jams, FTF etc.
