I feel you. I have a similar sized lure that is PERFECT for pike on paper.

The pike, however, disagree. Not a single hit all summer.

That lure will catch fish in both fresh and salt water year round. It is way more your technique than the actual lure. Are there lures designed specifically for a type of fish? Of course. Are most lures multi species and environments? Of course. Watch some YouTube videos and perfect your technique and you can tie shoe laces to a hook and catch fish. I’ve tried….. it works.

I catch largemouth bass on these jerk baits in Iowa. Gotta try different retreaves. ( twitch, twitch, reel) (twitch, pause, twitch, pause), till you find what they prefer. I have the best luck in the spring and fall with em’. Good luck!

Try tying red maribou to the hook . Mimics blood or gills

I’m no pike expert and just go once a year, but I’ve had better luck on BIG pike specific safety pin spinners. Every time I throw bigger crank baits I catch bass.

I use the 4 ¾ inch version for pike and musky, fast trolling works best but if casting work it faster than you think necessary. I found bass will like a slower retrieve but pike key in on speed with these guys.

I had not caught a pike before this year. Have 2 dozen under my belt now. I’ve caught all of mine except for 4 on lipless crank baits. Mostly 2″ some 2.5″ and one 3″. The other four pike we’re caught on 2 and 3 inch spoons. They love bluegill colors and shad colors. Not much luck with full body reds and full body blues.
