I do a lot of fishing around pylons and other barnacle covered structure. Inevitably I end up scraping my kayak up against them. Is there any sort of protectant tape out there that will prevent damage to the kayak when it rubs up against structure. If not I would like to hear anyone’s ideas or methods. Thanks

Dude, the whole point of a kayak is that it’s durable and simple. Scratch that bastard up! Every mark is a badge of honor. You’re not going to hurt it.

A lot of people use Gorilla Tape for this.

Is it a plastic kayak or fibreglass?

Last summer I bought at Wenonah canoe, the previous owner reinforced the bows and bottom with a fiberglass layer for use in the Boundary Waters. We have always just used duct tape. It was frickin sweet. You may be able to do this with a kayak, but if it’s a plastic kayak, it can take some abuse. Invest in a heat gun and melt out any major scratches
