As I anticipate Biden winning the presidency and Democrats potentially taking the Senate, like many, I am concerned about 2A rights. I emailed the NRA some time ago with a legislation proposal, but I received no reply and saw nothing introduced in Congress. I am going to post the proposal here in the hope that it might somehow get traction.
The legislation proposal is simple: It would codify into law that NO state or federal government official of any rank (e.g., president, congress, governors, etc.) nor any judge at any level (SCOTUS, federal, state) can own or be protected by any person owning or carrying a firearm or other weapon that citizens of the US are not permitted to own free of any burdensome tax or requirement. A similar provision would apply to ammunition.
The intention and philosophy are clear: Politicians and other officials should be not entitled to a level or standard of protection different than any other citizen in the US, so there should not be different standards on the weapons and ammunition that are permitted to protect people.
I would love to hear a politician defend his or her vote against such a proposal.
I would appreciate any thoughts on this, and I would welcome anyone forwarding it to anyone who might help it get some traction.

1. Democrats – We face threats and are targeted by right wing, racist, extremists who use guns and violence. We need extra protection.
2. Republicans – We face threats and are targeted by communist, ANTIFA, criminals who use weapons and violence. We need extra protection.

GuestJuly 7, 2020 at 8:07 pmI’ve been of the opinion that it should work this way for years, and if states have laws about mag size/conceal carry those should apply as well when in that state.
