I’m in the market for a snub nose revolver that looks like something straight out of The Godfather.

I’d prefer a .357 but I know .38’s are significantly cheaper and seemingly more available.

I’m really looking at the Ruger SP101 2.25” barrel but it’s a little on the pricey side, and the used market seems to be about 90% stainless steel. Would really prefer black/blued steel. In a perfect world it would have a wood grain handle too (I know this jacks the price up), but that can always be altered at a later time.

I’m far from an expert or aficionado, so I know there must be plenty of other brands/models that I’m just not finding out there. Does anybody have any suggestions of a good snub nose revolver that is worth checking out?

    Thanks!

Edit: just wanted to add that I am really not a fan of the hammerless look at all. I really don’t care if the gun is modern, it just doesn’t have to look like it is!

Colt Detective Special or Smith & Wesson Model 36 (“Chief’s Special.”) Pretty much THE classic snub-nosed revolvers.

Are you thinking of the one used by Michael in the restaurant?

Classic firearms had used Smiths on sale pretty cheap, would check your boxes I think if they still have them in stock

edit: Still in stock, but the barrels a 4″ so too long.. only $250 though. Model 10-7. You can change for a shorter barrel if you care

You’re probably best off actually looking for a used Model 36. Still plenty of them around.

A m206 by RIA is a total style piece and it’s super cheap. The early model had problems but they’ve kind of gotten better.
