Hey, I recently built my first AR, I’m curious as what people recommend for optics. I have a Vortex Crossfire II on my Mossberg Patriot but I’m not sure if I want to move it over to the AR. I do most of my shooting at the range between 50-100 yds. Would you recommend swapping the Scope over or would you recommend using a holo sight, and if so what would you recommend under $400. Thanks

Edit: I think I’ll get a Holosun 403 or 503. I can always add a magnifier for the future.

For both 50-100yds and sub $400, I’d definitely recommend a red dot. Look at Holosun’s offerings.

I don’t think you can get a holo sight for $400. And; you don’t “need” magnification (unless you are disabled) for anything inside of 200yds.

Red Dot, then add a 3x Vortex magnifier later or just run a 2-7x Leupold VX-Freedom scope

Depends on your eyesight, but a Holosun or Sig Romeo 5 RDS is a great all-around option – shake awake tech is great. Add a magnifier if you need it

Might want to take a serious look at these new primary arms 1x Prisms that are hitting the market or 3x if you need some magnification. They’re under $300 iirc.
