This is my first year bow hunt and I was just looking for a few tips on learning deer behaviors. I’ve went on a few youth hunts with my dad but it’s not the properties I hunt now. Me and a buddy decided to get into it a month before the season started here in NW Ohio, and layed corn and a salt block on a pretty evident deer trail. First hunt we attempted to bump and stalk one which led to a decent 6 point within 15 yards but my buddy missed the shot due to a tough shooting lane. We’ve yet to see anything other then 3 doe come in the other side of the field at about 80 yards. We think that we’re doing logical actions by setting our blinds off of deer trails but seem to not see anything. Just asking for some advice on anything helpful really. We also go out morning and evenings and still fail to see anything. Thank you in advance.

Man as far as tips go there are not many that hold weight other than don’t get seen, heard, or smelled and be in the right place at the right time. It’s a numbers game more time out there equals more sightings. Sounds ridiculous but you have to enjoy the entire landscape of being out there, archery hunters know that best. Good luck out there neighbor!

Experience is the best teacher so just keep doing what you’re doing! Also, there is a TON of information out there and youtube and podcasts as well. Whitetail Habitat Solutions is probably the best channel out there for deer behavior and a lot more!
