The people calling every rifle an AR15 and every handgun a Glock when advocating for gun control are the same people complaining that men don’t know enough about female reproductive health to regulate abortion.

“why the AR-15 keeps appearing” for fucks sake do these hacks not understand that there’s nothing magical about the name? There’s a million different rifles that can do all the same things an AR can. But to answer their questions it keeps appearing because of simple economics. Its derived from the military’s infantry rifle which has several significant economic implications. There’s tons of spare parts, the tooling is all already set up, and whatever the military uses (or whatever’s closest to it) is going to be most popular with veterans just by familiarity and therefore dominate the market.

I remember a line in the book written by Major Dick Winters “Beyond Band Of Brothers”, while still in training as a second lieutenant. Where an instructor was teaching on the proper use of the M1 “Garand” rifle, while using an M1903 as the demonstration rifle. You’d think that even in the Military that a trained soldier or officer would know the differences between the M1903 and the M1 Garand, and you’d be wrong. When I was in the Army in the ’70’s, there were those that didn’t even know what a “Helicopter” was, or couldn’t tell the differences between them (i.e. helicopter) and that of an airplane…

I bet they don’t even know the M-16 and AR-15 are the same family of weapons.
