I was fishing a lake today with some friends. They all thought that they didn’t need pliers. So 2 outta the 3 of them gut hook bass and I need to paddle half a mile to unhook them. Then when I got back to the spot I was fishing they all followed me and destroyed it. Still ended the night with 5 bass and one chain pickerel.

I carry two pliers, one on my PFD and the other in my tackle bag. They’re the least flashy fishing gear, but easily one of the most important.

You should’ve used the pliers to crimp all their barbs down. Then they wouldn’t need your pliers to release fish.
