Question for the guys that fish Florida Bay/ Flamingo/ Everglades City aka Chokoloskee: For the more residential / standard flats species (snook, trout, redfish, etc) how is the quality of the meat? Most of my flats fishing was done in the Indian river near St. Lucie and Fort Pierce Inlet, and I wouldn’t eat most of the fish out of those waters anymore. Lots of worms, muddy taste, just bleh.

Release everything, all of the roads drain into canals that eventually go in the oceans.

I’ve been fishing Eveglades City TenThousand islands area for more than 20 years. We eat all species we catch there. Never have I tasted a fish from Everglades city that tasted anything but fresh. I don’t know much about Indian river lagoon but the bulk of the Ten thousand islands area is made up of oyster bars which helps keep the water clean. Don’t be afraid to enjoy eating what you catch over there.
