Is sportsman’s warehouse a good place to buy from? There aren’t too many options in my city. Also, is the 1/3 year firearm care warranty actually worth it?

Sportsmen’s Warehouse is fantastic. Prior to COVID they very often ran some of the best deals on big brand guns (like the Ruger MPR) that would smash out the smaller dealers. However, in the last few years they’ve really cooled off in offering screaming gun deals, but they still have *reasonable* prices.

They also manage to routinely land lucrative collectors items. Like I’m trying to acquire an FN M249 and the last time they were imported they were sold exclusively through Sportsmen’s Warehouse. They’re often the only one with SCAR17 and SCAR20 in stock, and while they’re not running *screaming* deals on them, if you want one it’s likely they’ll have it before anyone else.

I’ve never dealt with their warranty, and in truth their employees don’t seem to be the happiest, best-paid, folks. It’s not Costco – but they’ve always been a reliable FFL in my books.

I’m sure the heyday of Sportsmen’s Warehouse is in their past, as they have been acquired by the same douche bags that ruined Cabelas, and that’s almost certainly why the deals dried up. Cabelas was, back like 10 years ago, a fantastic place to buy guns, and now everything is stupidly overpriced.

Sportsmans is decent. They run some good sales every now and again over on r/gundeals. For normal every day prices you can usually find a better price online including transfer fee. Every so often they used to have Kel Tec P17’s for about $180 OTD which was way cheaper than I could find online.

I’ve never bought a firearm warranty and don’t exactly see a reason for it. Most good manufacturers will have a good warrenty, one year or lifetime usually. Unless you get a lemon you will probably never use it. Most firearms are relatively simple machines. If something breaks its usually a cheap fix unless it’s something really old.

I’ve never had any problem buying from them, they carry some nice guns. I’ve never bothered getting their warranty, my gunsmith has a faster turn around then whoever they ship it off to would.

I’ve bought from Sportsman’s. The arms they sell are brand new. I don’t care for their pistols on pegs setup though.. They have a pretty good selection, and when they have ammo powder, primers, and other components in stock they keep a good array of those things too.. Last time I went there I found 2 boxes of large rifle primers sitting in their candy bin for normal retail price, and snapped them up.

I don’t think that I have ever had any kind of warranty on a gun that I have bought, aside from the manufacturers, so in my book, not really worth it.

I’ve purchased from Sportsman’s Warehouse in the past. They can be priced a bit on the higher side, but you can snag a great deal when things are on sale. And they’ve been very good to work with.

I’ve never purchased one of their firearm warranties. Just never made sense to me when the firearm is already under warranty with the manufacturer.

The owner of sportsman’s warehouse is anti gun. Don’t pad his pocket.

    I’m wrong.
