I rarely tell my newly minted 7 year old what we’re targeting when I get him up, but he always figures it out in the car based on where we’re heading. In the winter, we have a park that’s stocked every 2 weeks with rainbows that’s damn near always got at least 3 guys catfishing and 2 after bass, so he knows. The other park we frequent is known for bass, but is full of trophy carp and catfish that you’d never want to eat, so he knows we’re after a fight when we go there.
As far as neighborhoods go, they all have pretty much the same stocking list, but it seems like different neighborhoods tend to take different fish, so different species get big in different waters. I’ve got a crappie neighborhood, 3 for bluegill/sunnies/tilapia, one for bass, a couple for catfish, one for carp, and 2 for gar. One of my gar neighborhoods is excellent for bass, but it’s militantly private, and I’ve only got permission to take gar.
Are y’all similar, or nah?
