You can always buy new guns, but you only get one set of ears.

The first couple times before I had anything, I went with my friend and shot some of his guns and it was a pain due to the ears we had. Then went to a training and the instructor had electric I realize even if I never bought a gun electric ears were the best thing to get and better to pay the extra then to get the “old school” stuff. They both protect your ears but the electric just makes you forget you have anything protecting you and you don’t have a desire to take the ears off to have a conversation.

So ears and prescription shooting glasses.

I started bringing an extra set with me to the range every time and I’ve almost had to force my reluctant friends to try them and as soon as they put them on their face lights up with a big smile and they’re like “oh wow! Why didn’t you tell me these were so nice!” You would have heard me if you had a pair!

Just had a set delivered yesterday, and a set of those gel ear pads from /r/gundeals delivered today. Figured I need to stop just using just the foam inserts

I got one pair of the walker razors and that didnt really help. So i bought a second pair and force my shooting partner to wear them. This has made shooting so kuch more enjoyable.

These really are great. I have had a pair for a couple years now and although I don’t shoot, they are awesome for woodworking (loud ass powertools). I bought another one during black Friday cause it was down to $30.

The only downside to these IMO is that they work too well. You can pick up conversations from 20+ feet away while rounds are going off.

Gotta be careful what you say man.

I love these, but they SUUUUUUUCK at my indoor range. The ventilation system runs at just the right pitch to fuck with the microphone/speakers, so I just turn them off and am deaf again. At the outdoor range, though, they rock!

ngl I’m not experienced as most here, so I have no experience in indoor ranges, anyways a new indoor range opened near me so do yall recommend having a pair of plugs along with these? any other recommendations for indoor ranges?

It was definitely a game changer when I picked up my peltor sport tactical 500.

Be careful using these alone at indoor ranges. Electronic muffs usually have lower protection ratings than plugs or traditional muffs. I would strongly recommend using foam plugs underneath these. Turn the volume up and you will be able to hear speech still but you will have excellent hearing protection as well. Hearing is something you definitely don’t want to fuck with because whatever you lose is gone forever.

So what exactly is special about these? Everyone is praising them but not explaining what they do.

I shoot a lot of sporting clays as well as regular range time. I bought a pair of these first week of October and absolutely love them.

Do these cut out completely when the threshold is reached? or do they just plateau the audio? I have a different pair that cut but my friend has a pair that just caps the volume.
