    Open to other ideas…

Edit: Went with a 10’ 7 weight Recon. Got a deal on Lampson reels too. Got a three spool kit. Set one up with floating fly line, another with backing and laser line, the third TBD.

I use a 10′ 7 for Erie and WNY, it’s good for nymphing smaller tribs and then switch out leaders to fish anything else. You’ll be happy with what you got.

Get a single hand skagit head for it. Single hand skagit is super underrated!!

Great Lakes or West coast? Are there other larger species present? Do you intend to nymph, swing, or strip for them or maybe a combination?

I use a 7 wt for steelhead in the Lake Erie tribs, however mine is only 9’ so I can’t comment on the length for euro nymphing as I’ve never tried. The 7 wt has worked nicely though
