Looking at a new fish finder for Black Friday, and came across some good deals on the mid-range models, particularly the Lowrance Elite7 ti^2 (with the 3in1 transducer), and the Humminbird Helix 7 Mega SI G3. Both of these models have rather large transducers for a kayak, and was wondering what arm mount would work best for those of you with experience.

It’s a shame because for Lowrance in particular, ‘Kayak’ = Hobie, and it seems all their flush mounts are designed specifically for Hobie. I have an Old Town Trident 11, so no luck there.

Sorry I don’t have any advice on the topic, but I’ve been looking a little bit as well. Where have you found any deals on the helix?

I custom built one using 3/4″ PVC and mounted it to the stern. It can flip up if I hit anything or for transport. It was inspired by a design from Palmetto kayak fishing’s blog, and I’m much happier with it there than inside the hull.

I was going to get the Scotty arm, but didn’t want the side drag.

I have the Elite 7Ti with the Totalscan transducer, and I hard-mounted it to the hull of my Cuda LT. It would def be a pain to have on an arm (not just for the size, but for the weight), and having it off to one side might mess with the sidescan capabilities as well. Just something to think about.
