Washington and Virginia are about to announce an assault weapons ban for their states.
If one of these states follows through, what’s the chances the Supreme Court will take this and if they take it, overrule it.

It will be a while, if ever. The fine people of the revolutionary state of MA are hoping the SCOTUS grants Cert to our AWB case.

About as good as them overturning the Patriot Act or the NDAA.

About the same as Bruce Jenner growing a vagina.

Considering they have failed to hear cases where the lower federal court said bans were ok, I give it 20%.
About the same chance I give of us keeping our rights without a physical fight.
the federal fourth circuit court of appeals held that Maryland’s awb was legal, Virginia is in the fourth circuit. If one is passed, I’m betting the fourth won’t even hear a challenge to it.

At this point almost 0 for a state wide ban, by their refusal to do their job. But, there’s a 50/50 shot they would do it for a nationwide ban. My big fear is that them not hearing state wide bans will allow more and more states to have them, then when a decent amount of them have AWBs a nationwide one will be able to pass because the majority of states now have an AWB.

California has a case going right now, assigned to the same judge who struck down the magazine capacity limits earlier this year. If he strikes it down and then the 9th hears it and reverses the decision it could theoretically make it to SCOTUS. Lot of what ifs though and would be years for to get to that point if it did.

Considering that they’re starting to take gun cases again I’d say the chances are pretty good.
In fact the Maryland assault weapons ban is currently going through the supreme court process.

Depends on how you vote in 2020. Trump though certainly not perfect is our best hope for a conservative to replace RBG.
