I know this is a reloading group but I also k ow many of you build your own rifles so I was hoping to pick your brain.

I am working on a 7mm-08 AR10 but looking for any other ideas for barrel types to go with. I am new to long range and my rifle will be for hunting and shooting at 400-600 yards. I have looked at McGowen and like them but want to look at other options before I make my final decision. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Note: my price range is under $500

I haven’t tried them yet, but [x-caliber](http://www.x-caliber.net/ar-10) can supposedly make a barrel with nearly any chamber/rifling/bore/profile combination you want.

Mcgowen does fantastic quick work in your price range. They built my 6mm grendel barrel and that is a consistently sub moa barrel. Currently rolling average for the last ten 5 shot groups counting fliers, and shot of squeeze bag and sticks is .97. Would be a lot better if I called fliers and cherry picked groups but meh.

if you are dead set on 7mm-08 then I bought a barrel from here: https://columbiariverarms.com/ it took a while but it was well made and incredibly accurate.

I would suggest you reconsider the caliber and go with the much more common 6.5 creedmor which is readily available many places. Kreiger makes a very nice barrel that can be had at around $200 or so. Ballistically they are very similar and the cartridges are much less expensive and commonly available. Either way good luck.
