A couple of years ago I switched my rimfire scope for a sfp 4-16 mil hash reticule. It is fantastic for varmints.
I think the glass was clearer on my old scope, but being able to zoom in more has helped with identification and the hashes make holdovers to adjust super easy.
One thing to consider if you do go that route. Check your minimum paralax. Mine is 40m, which can make really close shots harder than I would like.
Edit. As a follow up. Your existing scope is just fine and my friends have used one for tons of gophers. If you want to spend money- a bigger scope is awesome, but it isn’t essential.
