it really depends on the cost of components vs. commercial loads. If you are reloading common calibers, it will take a looooooong time to recover your investment, if at all.
Less common rounds, yes, you can end up saving money. I reload 10mm and 40S&W. I never save any money loading 40, but I do loading 10mm.
The real value of reloading is being able to load exactly what you want.
